Come to City Hall Friday and hear the candidates for five City Council positions discuss why they want your vote. The five City Council incumbents up for re-election and their challengers will be answering questions posed by community leaders at 5:00 pm in the Boards and Commissions Room (L-280). If you can’t make it, you can still listen in on the listen line at 206-684-4718.

BACKGROUND ON CNC: The City Neighborhood Council is composed of one representative from each of the City’s thirteen district councils. The CNC and the district councils were established in 1987 by City Council resolution to advise the City on neighborhood issues; they are the only City advisory bodies whose members are selected entirely at the grass roots rather than being appointed by the Mayor or City Council. The CNC, the district councils, and their committees do not endorse or otherwise assist candidates, but seek to encourage communication and understanding about civic issues. For background on the City Neighborhood Council and the District Councils (including letters that CNC has sent to the Mayor and City Council on many issues), see http://seattle.gov/neighborhoodcouncil.
