<p><strong>Congratulations to the 2013 Award Recipients!</strong></p>
<p><strong>MOHAI/Naval Reserve Armory – </strong>The <strong>Beth Chave Historic Preservation Award for Best Adaptive Reuse</strong><em> </em><strong>Project</strong> goes to the Museum of History &amp; Industry (MOHAI) and its supporting partners for their outstanding achievement in the adaptive reuse of the Naval Reserve Armory at Lake Union Park in the South Lake Union neighborhood.</p>
<p><strong>Terry Avenue Building - </strong>The <strong>Best Rehabilitation Project</strong><em> <b>Award</b></em><strong> </strong>goes to Vulcan Real Estate and its supporting partners for its exemplary approach to renovating a vernacular, brick warehouse/office building by providing needed enhancements and new uses while respecting the integrity of the original design of a Seattle Landmark.</p>
<p><strong>Seattle Vineyard Church</strong> – The <strong>Best Preservation Practice Award</strong> goes to Seattle Vineyard Church and its supporting partners for a painting project that serves as an excellent model for the treatment of historic properties.</p>
<p><strong>Pioneer Building Interior Storm Windows</strong> – The <strong>Exemplary Stewardship Award </strong>goes to Dr. Richard and Mrs. Dorothy Sikora, owners and stewards of the Pioneer Building, and their supporting partners for an outstanding interior storm windows project that serves as an excellent model for the treatment of historic properties.</p>
<p><strong>HT Kubota Building</strong> – The <strong>Preserving Neighborhood Character </strong>award goes to HTK Management, LLC and its supporting partners preserving and enhancing the HT Kubota Building into a new mix of retail, restaurants and artist studios.</p>
<p><strong>Alliance for Pioneer Square</strong> – The <strong>Community Advocacy Award</strong> goes to the Alliance for Pioneer Square for its leadership in revitalizing Seattle’s first neighborhood.</p>
<p><strong>Kevin Daniels -</strong><em> </em>The <strong>Community Investment Award</strong> goes to Kevin Daniels for his long-term commitment investing in, preserving and revitalizing Seattle neighborhoods and landmark properties.</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Mayor Mike McGinn is inviting applicants for an opening on the Ballard Avenue Landmark District Board. The opening is for either a Ballard historian or a person having a demonstrated interest in the Ballard community.</p>
<p>The seven-member Ballard Avenue Landmark District Board protects the historical and architectural values and significance of the District by regulating all proposed changes to the external appearance of buildings, structures, and public rights-of-way located within the district boundaries.</p>
<p>The Board includes two district property owners, two district property owners/business persons, one district tenant/resident, one architect and one Ballard historian or person with a demonstrated interest in the Ballard community. Five Board members are elected for a two-year term at annual elections in the District, and two are appointed by the Mayor and approved by Seattle City Council.</p>
<p>Board meetings are held on the first Thursday of each month at 9 a.m. Board members generally must commit two to four hours a month to Board business. Board members serve without compensation and must be Seattle residents.</p>
<p>Interested applicants should send a resume and letter of interest by May 16, 2013. Electronic submissions are preferred, if possible.</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Mayor Mike McGinn is seeking two new members to serve on the Landmarks Preservation Board in an At-large position and the Structural Engineer position.</p>
<p>The 12-member Landmarks Preservation Board makes recommendations to Seattle City Council for landmark designation and reviews all proposed physical alterations to designated features of landmark properties.</p>
<p>The Board is composed of two architects, two historians, one structural engineer, one representative each from the fields of real estate and finance, one member from the City Planning Commission, a Get Engaged member (a position for young adults ages 18-29), and three members at-large. All appointments are made by the Mayor, subject to City Council confirmation.</p>
<p>Board meetings are held on the first and third Wednesdays of each month at 3:30 p.m. The architect and historian members also serve on the Board’s Architectural Review Committee. Board members generally must commit approximately 10 hours per month to Board business.</p>
<p>Interested applicants must be Seattle residents, and board members serve without compensation. Those interested in being considered should send a letter of interest and resume by May 10, 2013. Electronic submissions are preferred, if possible. </p>
