The blooming, fragrant lavendar at the Interbay P-patch inspired these photographs featured in the Seattle Times blog. The sale continues this Saturday and Sunday, July 14 and 15 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Interbay P-patch, located at 2451 15^th Avenue W (just south of the Ballard Bridge and Interbay Golf Course)

Gardening With Ciscoe at UpGarden P-Patch!

Saturday’s Gardening With Ciscoe show was taped at UpGarden P-Patch community garden. It showed the great features of the P-Patch and mentioned the giving garden, which are P-Patch plots dedicated to growing food for local food bank and feeding programs. In fact, Ciscoe donated a few plants for the UpGarden Giving Garden. Thanks Ciscoe!

Last month Beth Chave, our dear friend and colleague, passed away. She was a Sr. Landmarks Preservation Board Coordinator and had served the citizens of Seattle for 25 years. Interbay P-Patch Salmon BBQ and Summer Solstice Celebration Fundraiser

Interbay P-Patch invites you to a delicious salmon dinner in the beautiful Interbay P-Patch, a vibrant community garden between Queen Anne and Magnolia. This is always a lovely and fun event and we’d love to have gardeners from other P-Patches join us.

Saturday, June 23, 5 p.m.

2451 15^th Avenue W., Seattle (corner of 15^th and Wheeler, immediately south of the Interbay golf course)
Cost is $25 per person, children under 12 free.

Seating is limited; reservations recommended and appreciated. Contact Judy Hucka at judyken@drizzle.com or 206-282-9453.

Dinner includes grilled salmon, a large variety of salads and side dishes, and dessert. Coffee and lemonade will be provided; bring other drinks if you prefer.

This is Interbay’s major fundraising event of the year. Proceeds support Interbay’s gardening activities, including our porta-potty, used by gardeners, volunteers and visitors, and our huge food bank garden, which each year donates tons of fresh organic produce to the Ballard Food Bank and several other community food and shelter programs.

New rooftop P-Patch community garden opens at Seattle Center – the largest in the country

The sun came out last Saturday just in time to celebrate the new UpGarden P-Patch community garden on the roof of Mercer Garage at Seattle Center. Mayor McMinn, Councilmembers Bagshaw and Godden, along with more than 100 community members and city staff, attended the event. The 30,000 square foot site will have more than 110 plots for community members to garden. This P-Patch is the country’s first large-scale rooftop community garden and the first municipal rooftop community garden fully accessible to the public.

Upgarden construction begins!

This past Saturday and Sunday about 50 UpGarden P-Patch community garden volunteers constructed 1/3 of the terraces on the rooftop of Mercer St. Garage. There is a work party every weekend so come and join in on the fun!

Interbay P-Patch kicks off its food bank gardening season April 17

The Interbay P-Patch Garden kicks off its 2012 Food Bank Gardening Season on Tuesday, April 17, at 5:30PM. Every year, Interbay P-Patch donates more than 5,000 pounds of fresh, organic veggies to Ballard Food Bank, Mary’s Place and St. Martin’s on Westlake. Well over half of that produce is grown in the food bank beds by their team of volunteers. Click here to read more about it!

Town hall in Queen Anne on Tuesday, January 10

Please join Mayor Mike McGinn and representatives from City departments for a town hall on Tuesday, January 10, at the Queen Anne Community Center, located at 1901 1st Avenue West. From 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., City departments and community groups, including the mayor’s Service Plan partners, will have information tables and volunteer opportunities. A quick performance by a youth group will kick things off at 6:30 p.m. Then, an open discussion with the mayor will start and go until 8 p.m. The Queen Anne Community Center is located near bus route 3.
