Seattle Magazine just posted their list of the most influential people of 2013. We want to call-out and congratulate Lauren England of the West Seattle Bee Garden, Sarah Bergmann of the Pollinator Pathway, Bob Redmond of the Urban Bee Company, and Corky Luster of the Ballard Bee Company – all have worked with our P-Patch Community Gardening Program; and Lauren and Sarah’s organizations have both received awards from the Neighborhood Matching Fund for fantastic community projects. Congrats to Jill Crary, redevelopment director at Seattle Center, who has supported the work of the Landmarks Preservation Board and our Historic Preservations Program’s efforts on the campus. We also want to recognize Leslie Smith, executive director of the Alliance for Pioneer Square and Don Blakeney, executive director of Chinatown-International District BIA – both community leaders making a difference in their neighborhoods. Congratulations from Seattle Department of Neighborhoods.
The Seattle Department of Neighborhoods Neighborhood Matching Fund awarded $6,000 to this project to replace grass parking strips with gardens for pollinators. Click here to read the article.
