Seattle Youth Commission application deadline May 12

We are now recruiting for the 2010-2011 Seattle Youth Commission.   Applications will be accepted until Wednesday, May 12 , 2010.

The Seattle Youth Commission (SYC), formerly the Mayor’s Youth Council, connects and engages Seattle’s youth in the City’s civic participatory process, exposing our elected officials to the voices and perspectives of YOUTH. This is a great opportunity for young people to develop their leadership, facilitation and public speaking skills and network with City Lawmakers, local community leaders,  and other youth.

Youth Commissioners are expected to:

  • Organize a series of youth community meetings
  • Research, construct, and present policy recommendations to the Seattle Mayor and City Council
  • Participate in the planning of the annual Seattle Youth Town Hall
