The 1962 World’s Fair was one of the most profound events in Seattle’s history. It triggered an unprecedented era of innovation, inspiration and growth – and it put the eyes of the world on the Pacific Northwest.
2012, the Fair’s 50th Anniversary, is a hallmark time of celebration and contemplation; and once again, a collective of passionate citizens is collaborating to bring together the global community as we pause to shape our future.
For six months during 2012, Seattle will explore, debate, display and define a global vision. Engaging leading innovators from around the world and within our community, our focus will be on the examination of seven core areas where Seattle has demonstrated leadership:
Themes of the Next Fifty:
- Arts, Culture and Design
- Sustainability
- Global Health
- Science and Technology
- Learning
- Commerce and the Innovation Economy
- Civic Action
