Vision Greenwood Park fundraiser nets $2,000

“Vision Greenwood Park” is a neighborhood group formed to lead a community effort to expand and improve Greenwood Park.  Recently, the group was awarded a Large Project Neighborhood Matching Fund from the Seattle Department of Neighborhoods to construct a community garden in an undeveloped portion of the park.  The garden will be accessible for a range of ages.

The group held a fundraising party on Sunday, August 22 to raise money as part of the matching contribution required for their award.  The event included entertainment from a blue grass band and barbecue food donated from local restaurants and grocery stores. The event raised $2,000!

The next planned event is a work party on Saturday, September 25, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.  Work will include removing old fencing, which will open space for future garden plots.
