Accepting applications through Monday, September 30; classes begin October 12

Learn civic leadership and navigating local government at Seattle Department of Neighborhoods’ People’s Academy for Community Engagement (PACE). Developed for the next wave of community leaders, PACE is taking applications for its fall quarter classes which run from October 12 to November 9.

Over these five weeks, 25-30 leaders (18 years and up) will learn hands-on strategies for community organizing, accessing government, and inclusive engagement from experts in the field. PACE has a strong focus on Seattle’s communities and the city of Seattle’s governmental structure and processes. 

Fall Quarter classes will be held on Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at Langston Hughes Performing Arts Institute. Topics include: Accessing City Government, Community Organizing, Land Use and Equitable Development, Public Speaking, Building Relationships with Elected Officials, Storytelling, Conflict Resolution, and more.

Tuition for the 5-week program is $100. Tuition assistance is available. To apply, visit seattle.gov/PACE. The application deadline for Fall Quarter is Monday, September 30 at 5:00 p.m.
