46th Street Mural Project Celebration

The 46th Street Mural project was awarded $14,951 for creation of a mural on the north wall of N 46th street underpass at Aurora Avenue North.  The goals of the project were to build community and create a beautiful mural as a deterrent to graffiti.  Both goals were more than achieved by a committed community group, an outstanding artist, a partnership with ArtWorks working with youth, and City support.  Last Friday, August 27 more than a hundred people, including ArtWorks youth who helped paint the mural, turned out at the celebration.  The crowd was entertained by break dancers and music by the Wallingford Big Band Orchestra and enjoyed food and beverages donated by local businesses.  To view photos from the event, click here.
