The first “green street” in the Chinatown/International District celebrated its official grand opening on November 19, including a blessing of the plants with water from a traditional pump made in Japan. The design honors the Japanese American experience in Seattle, in the Nihonmachi area on Maynard Avenue South, between Main and Jackson. The project was awarded $96,600 from the Neighborhood Matching Fund Large Project Fund.
