Seattle City Council recently approved landmark designation ordinances for three new City of Seattle landmarks. Located in three neighborhoods, these landmarks exemplify the diversity and the rich cultural and architectural heritage of our City.

The City of Seattle Landmarks Preservation Board approved the nomination, designation, and controls and incentives for each of these landmarks, and provided draft ordinances to City Council for approval.

The new landmarks are:

• Ankeny/Gowey House built in 1891 (Queen Anne)
• Dakota Place Park building built in 1930 (West Seattle)
• Hat ‘n’ Boots built in 1954 (Georgetown)

Seattle Department of Neighborhoods’ Historic Preservation Program is responsible for the designation and protection of more than 400 historic structures, sites, objects, and vessels, as well as seven historic districts located throughout the city.
