Last week 36th District Rep. Gael Tarleton, City Councilmember Sally Clark, and former CNC Chair Chas Redmond provided hot tips on accessing government, led small group discussions on barriers to involvement, and guided groups through case studies where change happened through community-government partnerships. Councilmember Clark, with the help of participants, developed a Power Wheel to visualize networking and organizing strategies for problem-solving.
The PACE community projects are also underway. The project teams are getting involved in the Small Sparks process and learning about the Neighborhoods Matching Fund as they select projects to build community. Over the next month, participants have the opportunity to attend a tour sponsored by the Port of Seattle and create an asset map of their neighborhood. PACE is looking forward to Session 3: Community Organizing.
