The wide, flat, sunny, lot at the corner of 34th Ave. SW. and SW. Barton is about to become SW Seattle’s newest P-Patch Community Garden. At the suggestion of Roxhill/Westwood neighbors, the Seattle Department of Neighborhoods purchased the property in the summer of 2010. Since then, neighbors have been organizing to invite the surrounding community to be involved in creating the new community garden.
February 12th will be the first in a series of community design workshops led by Barker Landscape Architects to design a garden that best suits the Barton P-Patch community. Everyone is welcome to participate in the design activities from generating big ideas, considering alternatives, to a final plan.
