Summer events in the Magnuson P-Patch Children’s Garden!

Check out these fun summer events at the Magnuson P-Patch Children’s Garden:

“Summer Fridays in the Garden” during Free Family Concerts

Get to know the garden and do free nature exploration, nature art and other activities while being serenaded by local family-friendly bands!  Children’s Garden volunteers and Master Gardeners will be on hand to provide lots of garden fun for all.  Come visit the Grey Whale Garden and see its new mosaic eye too!  These events are co-hosted by Magnuson Community Center.   Call 206-684-7026 or visit www.seattle.gov/parks/centers/Magnuson.htm to find out more about this annual concert series or Magnuson Community Center’s other programs for children and families.

NEW this year: “Summer Sunset Gardening” with Seattle Works volunteers!

Come enjoy nature exploration, nature art, and other activities, or help Seattle Works volunteers as they do simple summer tasks! Children’s Garden volunteers and Master Gardeners will be on hand to provide lots of garden fun for all.  No musical guests,  but we can always serenade ourselves with a few Nature Explorers camp songs…!

  • Wednesday August 3rd from 6-8pm

And … don’t forget to check the Jr. Nature Explorers program website schedule for all the summer camps and classes available for children ages 4-9, and monthly wetland walks for the whole family. www.jrnatureexplorers.blogspot.com  These programs are sponsored by Magnuson Community Center, filled with outdoor learning and hands-on nature experiences, and have been a big hit for the past 7 years.  Call 206-684-7026 to find out more about these programs, or to register.  Camps are filling up fast!

4th annual “Blues for Food Fest”  Nature exploration, nature art, and other activities are extra exciting when being serenaded by several local blues bands during this day-long benefit concert for the P-Patch Trust!  Children’s Garden volunteers and Master Gardeners will be on hand to provide lots of garden fun for all. This event helps support local food banks, shelters, and hot meals programs.

  • The festival is Saturday September 3rd from 12noon-8pm, and volunteers will be on hand for Children’s Garden activities from 12noon-4pm.

 Additional volunteers are needed for all these concert and gardening events, children are welcome to help, and  teens can receive service-learning hours as well!   All Blues for Food Fest volunteers get an all-day pass to the festival.  Please email  magnusonchildrensgarden@gmail.com if you’re interested in volunteering.
