Gardening with Children: Year-Round Fun and Success!

Are you and the kids in your life itching to get your knees in the dirt to start your gardening year?

Start with a smile at this hands-on workshop, chock-full of information on how to have success in a children’s garden, p-patch plot, or your own back yard!

Tour the Magnuson Children’s Garden and P-Patch, and learn design tips, fun and educational garden activities, songs and games, tips on long-term volunteer sustainability and funding, and plant recommendations for year-round success.

Come away with inspiration and information that will prepare you for a great year of guiding children into learning experiences about plants, insects, birds, and the other creatures whose life cycles contribute to the wonders in a garden.

9:30  Sign in and refreshments in the Brig building lobby
10:00-12noon  Hands-on- workshop in the lobby and out in the garden

A FREE 2012 Youth Resource Binder & seeds will be given out to workshop participants upon arrival.

Learn from experienced professional Emily Bishton:

Emily Bishton is a landscape designer and environmental educator. She has been involved in the designs for many local public and private gardens, including the Bradner Children’s Garden, Magnuson Children’s Garden, and the new Orca School Garden.  For the past 15 years, Emily has also taught hundreds of gardening classes and consulted for dozens of children’s garden programs all over King County.  Since 2005, she has been director and head teacher of the Magnuson Jr. Nature Explorers and Family Nature Explorers programs.
