Here is an interesting story of how community gardening has brought people together in the tsunami-devastated town of Ishinomaki. Chiba University students studying horticulture created a community garden, and their activities have encouraged survivors to participate in the gardening, bringing color back into the neighborhood.
Professors from Chiba University will be sharing the story during the American Community Gardening Association Conference happening here August 8-11. There is still time to register for workshops, along with the tours.
