Middle and High School Students! You Are Invited to Join Free Architectural Design Studio

Art and Architecture StudioMiddle and high school students are invited to join the Center of the Universe Art & Architecture Design Studio in Fremont. This FREE three-session program will take place on Sundays, October 5, 12 and 19 from 1:30 to 4:00 p.m. at the Fremont Branch of the Seattle Public Library. Roosterwax, a local nonprofit educational organization, is presenting this event; and it was made possible by the Fremont Chamber of Commerce and a Neighborhood Matching Fund award from the Seattle Department of Neighborhoods.

This is an opportunity for middle and high school students to explore, design, and present their own architectural project using the same methods that architects use. In the first session, students will get a TOUR of the whimsical Fremont business district where they’ll examine how art is incorporated into the buildings and how both are integrated into the neighborhood. On October 12, students will take what was learned on the tour into the DESIGN STUDIO where they will develop their own building and art-form project. In the final session, students will add last-minute touches to their project, get presentation tips, and PRESENT their ideas to family, friends, and the community. Materials will be provided for students to develop their projects.

The program is free, but enrollment is limited to 25, so students should register online at www.roosterwax.com. The mission of Roosterwax, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, is to inspire and inform K-12 students who are interested in architecture.
