Volunteers are needed to serve on Standing Advisory Committees (SAC) for Harborview Medical Center, Virginia Mason Medical Center, Swedish Cherry Hill, and Swedish First Hill. These committees advise the City of Seattle and the relative institutions on the potential impacts of their campus development on the surrounding neighborhoods. Seattle Department of Neighborhoods is seeking interested neighborhood residents with experience in neighborhood organizations and issues, land use and zoning, architecture, landscaping, economic development, building development, or educational services.

Standing Advisory Committees meet to:

1. Review Annual Reports on an institution’s development;
2. Review and comment on an institution’s progress under its Transportation Management Plan;
3. Review Master Use Permits submittals and requests for amendments to an institution’s Master Plan, and make recommendations based on established design criteria; and
4. Provide comments on projects under development.

Standing Advisory Committees (SAC) generally meet in a hybrid format that accommodates both in-person and virtual attendance. Meetings are held in the evenings and occur at least once annually and up to four times per year. Please note that Harborview Medical Center may require SAC members to meet as frequently as two times per month for the first six months and then return to 1-4 meetings annually. 

SACs are composed of six to twelve representatives and two to four alternates, including a non-management representative from the associated institution. SAC members serve two-year renewable terms.
