Mayor Bruce Harrell seeks a new member to serve on the Ballard Avenue Landmark District Board in the Architect position. The Ballard Avenue Landmark District Board reviews and makes recommendations to the Seattle Department of Neighborhoods Director regarding proposed changes within the Landmark District such as signage, awnings, landscaping, window transparency, painting, street furniture and new construction.
The board has seven members who serve two-year terms. Five members are elected by the Ballard Avenue Landmark District community for the positions of Resident (one), Property Owner (two), and Property Owner or Businessperson (two). The positions of Architect and Community Historian are appointed by the mayor and confirmed by Seattle City Councilmembers.
Board meetings are held on the first Thursday of each month at 9:00 a.m. In general, board members must commit approximately two hours per month to board business. Board members serve without compensation.
