A community design and feedback workshop at Rainier Vista on March 3 will give community members the opportunity to shape the design of a new Community Farm in Rainier Valley. The farm is being developed by the P-Patch Community Gardening Program with Parks and Green Spaces Levy Funds. The multi-lingual workshop will engage participants in creative exercises to generate ideas about making the farm a multi-cultural space that is inviting and productive for people of all ages. Participants will also have the opportunity to give feedback about the Rainier Vista neighborhood to the architects who designed it. The workshop is co-hosted by the Seattle Department of Neighborhoods P-Patch Community Gardening Program, Solid Ground, and Rainier Vista.
Community Farm is a partnership between P-Patch Program, Solid Ground, and Seattle Housing Authority and will be a place for volunteers to grow food for sharing and donation in the Rainier Valley. Its operations are supported by a Community Food Project matching grant from the USDA. Construction of the farm is expected to begin in April and be completed in August.
