As part of the Parks and Green Spaces Levy, Seattle Department of Neighborhoods P-Patch Program is partnering with low income housing providers to build gardens for residents. Staff recently visited the Low Income Housing Institute’s Bart Harvey Building in the Cascade Neighborhood to learn what this provider is doing and about other low income housing communities that would also like a garden. This garden features a beautiful green roof garden of sedums that helps with storm water runoff and also several rooftop raised bed vegetable gardens. Residents work together to grow food for themselves and also enjoy the beautiful green space on the roof.
