We are pleased to announce a new Neighborhood District Coordinator to the Central Region. Laurie Ames, whom many of you know, will be joining the team beginning Jan. 2. Laurie has worked at DoN since 1991 and has served in a variety of leadership capacities, the latest as a Neighborhood Matching Fund Project Manager. While not new to DoN, she is very excited about her new role. “I have a great deal of passion for the work we do within Seattle Department of Neighborhoods – all of which contributes to strengthening our city by engaging community members,” says Laurie. She will excel in her new position considering her experience and knowledge of the community – she has worked with literally hundreds of community groups over the years.
And we have a move as well. Christa Dumpys, who has served as an NDC since 2005, has worked for the city for more than 12 years. She presently serves the Central Region, but will move to the North Region Team as of Jan. 2. “It has been an honor to work with the Downtown, Queen Anne, and Magnolia neighborhoods for the last eight years,” says Christa. I have been inspired by the many volunteers dedicated to serving these communities. I will miss working in the Central Region, but I am excited to expand my knowledge of the city and share my skills with the North Region.”
Neighborhood District Coordinators work to bring our Seattle city government closer to communities across the city. They help to engage and empower all community members to make contributions in their neighborhoods, as well as serve as their resource and liaison.
