Diversity of voices participate in first-ever Ethnic Media Startup workshop

On September 23, Seattle Department of Neighborhoods (in partnership with The Seattle Globalist) hosted the first-ever Ethnic Media Startup workshop. This was a free full-day workshop focused on building startup media skills, teaching the basics of business models for journalism, and connecting participants to the local media industry.

We worked with 52 participants interested in developing media outlets for a wide diversity of communities in our region, including African American, Arab, Somali, Pakistani, middle and lower class people of color, Latino, women of color, API and South Asian, Native American, Vietnamese, multicultural, African Americans in tech, and many more.

It was an exciting and energizing day! Thank you to everyone who participated!
