More than 1,000 ideas submitted for Your Voice, Your Choice: Parks and Streets

Your Voice, Your ChoiceAfter wrapping up idea collection for this year’s Your Voice, Your Choice: Parks & Streets, two things are strikingly clear:

  1. You all have a lot of ideas!!! We received just over 1,000 ideas for small-scale improvements to parks and streets throughout the city!
  2.  This program is getting lots of new people to participate in the civic process. When we asked those who submitted ideas whether they had previously participated in Your Voice, Your Choice or any other City programs, 70% of the respondents indicated that this was their first time!

That is amazing! Thank you all for your enthusiasm and participation!

The submitted ideas are currently going through a feasibility review process with Seattle Department of Transportation and Seattle Parks and Recreation to determine which can realistically be accomplished. The ideas that pass this review (plus the 395 ideas rolled over from last year) will then move on to the Project Development phase.

In this phase, community volunteers from each council district will review and assess the eligible projects and narrow the list down to 70 projects (10 per Council District).

GET INVOLVED!

You can get involved by attending one or more of our project development meetings throughout the city. These meetings are simply conversations with neighbors about submitted project ideas in your community. Participants will discuss the projects in small groups and then individually score ideas based on physical need and community benefit.

Each Project Development meeting will focus on one project list, a list of project ideas from the neighborhoods immediately surrounding the meeting location. If you can’t come to the Project Development meeting in your neighborhood, you can attend another meeting in your Council District and review the project list of your choice at that meeting.

You can participate as much as you want in Project Development. You can attend one meeting or several meetings. The only restrictions are that you can only review one project list per meeting and can review each project list only once.

If you are interested in participating in these meetings, see our full schedule below.
