Indigenous Advisory Council Celebrates Five Years of Advocacy for American Indian, Alaska Native, and Native Hawaiian Communities

On this five-year anniversary of the Indigenous Advisory Council (IAC), the Department of Neighborhoods spoke with Seattle City Councilmember Debora Juarez (District 5), Muckleshoot Tribal Council Chair Donny Stevenson, and Indigenous Advisory Council Liaison for the Department of Neighborhoods Kolbi Monasmith about the history, the story, the background, the impact, and the vision of the IAC.

The Indigenous Advisory Council is the first in the nation, and Councilmember Juarez speaks fondly about hopes that this advisory body will be replicated as a model in jurisdictions across the country.

The Department of Neighborhoods is proud to support the IAC’s work throughout the year, through its’ regular meetings, special events, advocacy, and other engagement.
