Community paints mural, beautifies underpass

August 20 and 21, about 50 community volunteers came out to help paint the Dexter Way N mural in an underpass beneath the Aurora Bridge.  The new mural, which features Washington native flowers, birds and trees, replaced a 15-year-old painting which has long since been covered with graffiti.

The project was sponsored by Queen Anne Murals, and funded in part by the Seattle Department of Neighborhoods Neighborhood Matching Fund.  The group solicited designs from artists and community members voted on their favorite one.  The group then hired Urban ArtWorks to help paint the mural.

Come out and see the beautiful new underpass!
