Celebrate the Sound of Tomorrow!

The public is invited to a free event celebrating the applicants to the low power FM program(LPFM) program. It will be held at noon on October 15 at the Pike Place Market Elliott Bay Room (floor of the Economy Market Atrium). Be the first to get your map of proposed neighborhood radio stations for Puget Sound and meet the organizations that will change the audio landscape of our region.

On October 15th, 2013, the Federal Communications Commission will open an application window for thousands of low power FM radio frequencies (LPFM) across the U.S. This window is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to build out more infrastructure for our media and community technology ecosystems. With their minimal operating costs and neighborhood-oriented broadcast range, LPFMs can quickly become local multi-platform cultural hubs, providing easy access to production equipment and hands-on media training. They also can be an invaluable tool for neighborhoods to shape and amplify their own voices.
