Is there a particular place in Seattle that holds special meaning for you? A place that grounds and connects you? We want to hear about it!
Our city is full of unique places that play a significant role in shaping our communities and our individual and collective identities. Some of these places may be vast; a neighborhood, a park, a body of water; others granular, like a house, community center, or restaurant. Some change dramatically over time, while others persist in ways that feel familiar.
Our lived experiences in these places are fundamental to the larger story of our city. They are more than the settings of our stories, they are characters within them, and they shape our past, present, and future.
As Seattle continues to grow and change, we want to hear about the places in our city that hold compelling stories for you. If there is a local place, past or present, that holds special meaning for you, please let us know!
How to share your story
Please fill out the submission survey by November 10, 2023 with the following elements:
- Name and brief description of a place in Seattle that holds meaning for you.
- Short paragraph describing why this place is special and how it has shaped you and/or your family or community.
- The communities that this place has served/supported.
- Do you give permission to the Department of Neighborhoods to use parts of your story to promote this storytelling project?
- Can we reach out to expand your submission into a more robust story? If so, please provide contact information.
Once we have compiled a list of these influential places in the city, we will dig a little deeper to highlight some of them for our new storytelling project “Stories in Place.”

- Tên và mô tả ngắn gọn về một địa điểm ở Seattle có ý nghĩa đối với quý vị.
- Đoạn văn ngắn mô tả lý do tại sao nơi này lại đặc biệt và nó đã định hình quý vị và/hoặc gia đình hoặc cộng đồng của quý vị như thế nào.
- Các cộng đồng mà địa điểm này đã phục vụ/hỗ trợ.
- Quý vị có cho phép Sở Phụ Trách Khu Dân Cư (Department of Neighborhoods) sử dụng các phần câu chuyện của quý vị để quảng bá dự án kể chuyện này không?
